INTRODUCTION

Since its inception in 1948, the national Cadet Corps has traversed a long way to become a major youth organization in the country. The role it has played in calculating discipline and developing leadership qualities among youth is commendable, while its effort in the field of community development and national integration has been praiseworthy. The NCC as a nursery of future citizens, is playing a catalytic role in shaping the character of our youth by instilling in them the values of patriotism, service and hard work. Through its wide range of activities, the NCC has been acting as cohesive force by promoting national integration and oneness in our country. Dr. Anil Kumar(Geo) is the CTO of the Unit.

INCEPTION

The Director General of NCC has accorded approval for the raising of NCC(Senior Division) Unit at Indira Gandhi government College under the affiliation of 22AP (I) COY NCC, Pasigaht, Arunachal Pradesh, with a strength of 160 ISD COY w.e.f. Jan 2003 and that has started functioning effectively from the same date.

There has been tremendous enthusiasm among the students of this college to take-part in NCC. The enrollment to the extent of 105 cadets in the very first year is an evidence of the same and is increasing in every NCC training period.

STRUCTURAL ORGANIZATION

In all NCC traning periods, the Unit is divided into three platoons namely, Alfa, Bravo and Charlie. Futhter, one Sergeant, one Corporal and one Lance Nayak is selected against each platoons from the cadets. Selection of one Senior Under Officer, one Under Officer and one Quater Master is also done for the effective management of the Unit. Therefore, 12 NCC titles are distributed in each training period.

ARRANGEMENT OF RESOURCE PERSONS

The NCC(SD) Unit of Indira Gandhi Government College invites resource persons from various quarters to incalcate values of patriotism and train the cadets in their future endeavor. The Unit invites Army personnel of 82 Mountain Brigade regularly to deliver lectures on various aspects of NCC to shape the individuals’ character and their future career in armed forces in particular and nation building in general. The Unit organized various motivational camps in which the Principal of the College, Armed forces personnel and other resource persons delivered thought provoking letterers.

The office of the OC, 22 AP (I) Coy, NCC, Pasighat is away about two day’s difficult journey and therefore Brigadiers 82 Mt. Brigade is earnestly requested which he honors to provide one P.I staff to command / teach the NCC Parades / Cadets.

ORGANIZATION & DISPLAY OF NCC PARADES

The unit as per the requirement of each NCC training period is organizing NCC parades. The Cadet’s display in all the parades especially on such occasions as 15th Aug, 26th Jan, Annual College Day celebrations etc., is praiseworthy.

VOLUNTARY / SOCIAL SERVICES

The Unit has always provided its voluntary services and social services as when required and / or requested.

Every year, during the Durga Puja Celebrations in Tezu, our cadets extend voluntary services in different ways for the smooth functioning of the festival.

In all the general functions or gatherings our cadets are deployed to maintain discipline and to work shoulder to shoulder with other police and paramilitary forces.

The Unit provide voluntary services in the event of natural calamities like floods etc.

ACHIEVEMENTS

It is significant and proud to note that 6 NCC Cadets of our Unit have joined the Indian Army.

The CTO of the Unit is the Nodal Officer for Pre-Army Recruitment Rally appointed by the Deputy Commissioner Of the District.
