Education as a discipline began in the early part of 16th century with the marvelous works of John Amos Comenius a Swiss Educationist and Philosopher. However, it is a multi disciplinary area of study which provides adequate  knowledge regarding the Philosophical, Psychological, Sociological and Pedagogical  foundations. According to Aristotle “Education is the creation of a sound mind in a sound body“. The department of Education was introduced in the year 2007 in Indira Gandhi Govt. College Tezu with Only pass course. Initially there were 36 students and one lecturer in the department of education. Subsequently, the enrollment in the department is on the rise and in the present academic session there were 386 students in 2nd semester, 383 students in 4th semester and 86 students in the 6th semester education major. The past achievements of the department is very high. Under semester system, the first batch of education major obtained 3 top 10 position in Rajiv Gandhi University with the Gold medal in the year 2017 and with a total of 18 first class. In 2018, Rajiv Gandhi University 6th semester results the department bagged 7 top 10 positions with 46 first class. Besides the academic achievements in first semester, second semester, third semester and fourth semester in B.A is very good. The students are guided by three experienced faculties. The department organizes seminars, workshop, study tours and counseling programs at regular intervals.
