Welcome to the Department of Education
“Education is a controlling grace to the young, consolation to the old, wealth to poor and ornament to the rich”.
Education as a discipline began in the early part of 16th century with the marvelous works of John Amos Comenius, a Swiss Educationist and Philosopher. However, it is a multi disciplinary area of study which provides adequate knowledge regarding the Philosophical, Psychological, Sociological and Pedagogical foundations.
The department of Education was introduced in the year 2007 in Indira Gandhi Govt. College, Tezu with only pass course. Initially there were only 36 students and one lecturer in the department of Education. Subsequently, the enrollment in the department increased and currently, the department of Education is one of the departments with the highest number of enrollments in the college.
The students of education department have been scoring top 10 positions in the RGU examinations every year. In 2023, two students scored 4th and 10th ranks in the top 10 list. Currently, the department is imparting NEP 2020, CBCS, and Non-CBCS based systems of education to the students.
The department organizes National and departmental seminars, webinars, study tours and counselling programmes at regular intervals. Besides, it provides platform to the students for nurturing their creativity through wall magazine SERENE and WISDOM CORNER.
